I was on a piece of farm property that I spent time on as a teenager with my mom and step mother, and where my son grew up when he was young. My stepmother who owned it has since passed, and during the dream she was alive, but I did not see her. The property was divided strangely- there were open fences arranged in a random pattern across the front part, and a number of queer cowboy friends, progressive folks from my teenage years, and others. I was walking around in the yard preparing for this gathering, and I sensed a presence in a grassy area at the corner of one of the fences. It was a snake. I didn’t want anyone to get hurt, so I went to go and tell someone, but immediately regretted it because I knew that they would kill it. I went back to the place with the snake and was going to try to relocate it to an area away from people. I tried to grab it by the neck and succeeded at first, but as I pulled it up I was stunned to find the most beautiful snake I had ever seen- opalescent pink glittering scales, with a mother of pearl belly, sparkling jewel-like eyes. There was a moment where I looked at it, and it looked at me, and I was transfixed. I did not want it to be killed, especially something so beautiful, but I also didn’t want it to harm anyone. It was much bigger than I thought. I took off with it heading toward the clearing and with its strong tail it managed to wring itself free. At the end of the dream I remember the powerful strikes- like being hit hard. I didn’t feel the fangs, but things became blurry, and I heard someone shout “call an ambulance”, and then I went out in my dream, waking suddenly.
